The history of the caves is interesting as the Mau Mau lived their during the colonial period. To enter them, you need to enter by a tunnel just about big enough to walk through for several meters. Soon you will come to a large cavern which is lit by electric lighting and from their you can see the network of tunnels and smaller caves linking to the main cavern. We advise taking a torch as the lighting is not 100% reliable and its pitch black inside the caves withought artificial light. It’s quite an amazing experience to think of the Mau Mau living their all those years in those dark damp conditions hiding from their enemy.</p> <p></p> <p> BOATING LAKE</p> <p>The parkland is built around a boating lake with around 15 boats each holding nine people. You can hire the rowing boats out together with life jackets, which are suitable for children over around 8 and adults. There are no life jackets for children under that age, however.
